Educational Talent Search/Project PLUS
Portland Middle Schools
ETS/ Project PLUS is an educational access and retention program sponsored by Portland State University, and funded by an Educational Talent Search grant from U.S. Dept. of Education.
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to identify, motivate, and assist 11 through 27-year-old students in their educational transitions. We assist and encourage students to stay in school and graduate, and enroll in community college, university or technical training programs.

Preparing and Learning for
University Study (PLUS)
Career Exploration:
- Explore new careers
- Attend fun career day field trips
College Exploration:
- Learn about going to college
- Visit colleges and universities
Academic Skills Building:
- Academic advising
- Study skills (time management, reading, note-taking, test-taking, effective listening)
- Referrals to other educational support services and community resources
Youth Technology Core:
- Learn to use technology just like the pros
- Technology Fridays
- Technology boot camp
- Web design
- Digital video filming and streaming
- Digital music streaming
- Digital photography
What We Deliver:
- Adoptive Classrooms
- After-School Programs
Eligibility:
You can participate in Project PLUS if you:
- Are at least 11 years old and in the sixth grade
- Qualify within the income eligibility requirements
- Parents or guardians did not graduate from college
- Are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States
- Attend one of the following targeted schools:
- Hosford Middle School
- Lane Middle School
- Ockley Green Middle School
- John H. Johnson Leadership Academy for Young Men
- Harriet Tubman Leadership Academy for Young Women
